Locker Room Monitoring

Northfield Hockey Association (NHA) is committed to following the guidelines set forth by USA Hockey’s SafeSport Program to help protect our participants from physical abuse, sexual abuse and other types of misconduct, including emotional abuse, bullying, threats, harassment, and hazing. To ensure that these goals are met, NHA has committed to the following Locker Room Monitoring (LRM) Policies and Procedures, which are designed to maintain personal privacy as well as reduce the risk of misconduct within locker rooms.

USA Hockey requires that at least one same-sex adult be present to monitor the locker room during all team events. This adult is known as a Locker Room Monitor (LRM) and is responsible for:

  • Ensuring that only approved team personnel, family members, and participants are in the locker room
  • Supervising conduct in the locker room
  • Preventing, reducing, and eliminating harmful behavior
  • Upholding a safe environment

All Coaches, Team Managers, LRMs, Board Members, Coordinators, and any other volunteer that will have regular contact with or authority over NYHA players are required to complete the following registration steps. Follow the steps BELOW to complete your requirements. It is strongly recommended to get a head start on these requirements early in the season or pre-season to ensure you are compliant. Lack of compliance will result in being unable to do the role (ex. a Coach will not be allowed on the ice).

Only LRMs listed on the official USA Hockey roster can ever enter the locker room as an LRM. Coaches will be listed as coaches on the official USA Hockey roster and can act as an LRM. Coaches will not be listed as an LRM on the official USA Hockey roster.
